Bagging a bargain online is easier as all the information you need is right in front of you, you just have to find it.

My first tip is to do your research and understand product prices and competitor prices. Ensure you know what you get for your money- do the products come with a guarantee? What are the postage costs? Do you get anything extra from one retailer that you wouldn’t from another?

Don’t just stick to the sites you know- shop around and search for the discount, try sites you haven’t visited or seen before. Sometimes another site will be able to give a better price. However, ensure these sites are safeguarded before you put in your card details. Ultimately if you don’t feel comfortable buying from the site, do not.

Know what bargains you can negotiate for- don’t have unrealistic expectations of bargains. Asking for money off is a bargain, asking for something at a quarter of the price is just unrealistic.

Don’t push too far. Read the person you’re negotiating with and don’t have a full blown argument with the sales person.

Timing is everything. Read the person you’re negotiating with and time your bargains request perfectly. Stay calm and cool. Remember to be interested but not desperate.

Be careful of restaurants, there is only so much they can do to give you bargains. You could also receive bad services.

Use your right to complain. If you’ve had a bad service say so, don’t accept it as the norm.
